Due to a Denial of Service (DOS)
attack on my ISP, both the website and my email have been intermittently
down over the last few days. Hopefully these cyber-vandals have got
bored now and a regular service can be resumed.

newspapers. The Black Parole der Woche article
has been amended too.

Today marks the 60th anniversary of
the D-Day landings in Normandy. The first news of the Allied invasion
was brought to German soldiers by the joint PWE/OSS grey newspaper Nachrichten
für die Truppe. It was produced by British and American staff under
the leadership of Sefton Delmer.
Dropped daily by the US Special Leaflet Squadron it was much more timely
than the Germans own newspapers, it was eagerly sought after. See
the D-Day issue of Nachrichten here.

leaflet showing German soldiers how the enemy retouches photographs for
propaganda purposes.

I've just listed on eBay
a genuine sheet of PWE/SOE forged ration coupons for 50 grams of bread.
These were dropped by the RAF over Germany at the end of 1943 and
throughout 1944. They were almost perfectly forged by Ellic Howe.
